Between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a street gang managed to gain political control in Birmingham. They were called the Peaky Blinders and, if the name sounds familiar to you, it is because the BBC series that tells their story is being a success.
The series, which has just premiered its fifth season, is available on Netflix. But also, now you can enjoy it as only a Peaky Blinder can: with a glass of Irish whiskey in hand.
Sadler’s, an English brewery, has decided to bet on the history of the Peaky Blinders with the launch of a range of spirits. Among them, this Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey.
It is an Irish whiskey that is refined in Jerez barrels and bottled at 40% volume.
Medium bodied, it is a fresher whiskey than the color suggests. It is a fruity whiskey, with soft notes of banana and peach and a hint of orange peel.
Sweet vanilla notes accompany it, along with a subtle hint of honey. Also light notes of hot chocolate and a touch of Catalan cream.
The finish is short and sweet vanilla and caramel notes predominate. Spicy notes on the back palate.
We might think that Sadler’s Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey is just an attempt to capitalize on the show's fan interest with a glass of whiskey. But actually, it's a good Irish whiskey.
Balanced on the palate, it is a well worked whiskey. As a good Irishman, it is a smooth and easy whiskey, that is left to do. Ideal for any Irish whiskey lover, but also perfect for beginners. Also, it does not disappoint the whiskey connoisseur, offering very good value for money.
